Bond funds are not savings accounts. Their price moves with interest rates, and the fund has no fixed end date unless it says so.
Education, not advice. Nothing here recommends buying or selling any fund. Past returns are not used to rank anything. Funds can lose value, and some products carry the credit risk of their issuer.

Examples chosen by size and common use, not a recommendation. The list is not complete and other funds on the same index exist. Annual cost is the figure each issuer publishes (ongoing charge or total expense ratio). Fund size depends on whether the issuer reports the whole fund or one share class; the basis is shown where stated. Past performance is not shown and not used.
A bond ETF holds many bonds. Government funds hold sovereign debt. Corporate funds hold company debt and carry more credit risk. Aggregate funds mix government, corporate and other bonds. The fund does not mature: as bonds expire, it buys new ones, unless it is a target-maturity fund.
When interest rates rise, bond prices fall, and a fund with long duration can lose a lot. Corporate and high-yield bonds can default. Hedging currency adds a cost. A bond fund can lose money even though bonds are called safe.
How the tables are built. Every figure was read on 13 October 2026 from the issuer's own page or factsheet, and each fund links to its source. A figure we could not verify is shown as "not verified", never estimated.
First edition: products from iShares, Vanguard, Xtrackers, Amundi and SPDR. Not a recommendation of any of them.
Questions people ask
Are bond ETFs safe?
Safer than stocks on average, but they can lose money, especially when rates rise.
What is duration?
A measure of how much a bond fund's price moves when interest rates change.
Do bond ETFs mature?
Most do not. Target-maturity funds are the exception.
