See what one pip is worth on a pair, in your own account currency, before you size a trade.
Risk warning. Leveraged products such as forex and CFDs lose money quickly and most retail accounts lose. These calculators do arithmetic on the numbers you type. They are education, not advice, and not a recommendation to trade anything.
What a pip is
A pip is the usual smallest quoted step of a currency pair: 0.0001 for most pairs and 0.01 for pairs quoted in yen. Its money value depends on the position size and on the currency your account is held in.
The formula
pip value = pip size × units × (account currency per 1 unit of the quote currency)
When the quote currency is your account currency, the rate is 1 and the value is exact. When it is not, the value moves with the exchange rate, so treat the figure as an estimate and check your broker's platform.
Example
One standard lot of EUR/USD in a USD account: 0.0001 × 100,000 = 10 USD per pip.
Questions people ask
How much is a pip worth on a standard lot?
On pairs quoted in USD with a USD account, 10 USD per pip. On other pairs it depends on the exchange rate.
Why does the pip value change on yen pairs?
The pip is 0.01, and the value is first in yen, then converted to your account currency at the current rate.
Is this the exact figure my broker uses?
No. Brokers convert at their own live rate. Use this to plan, then confirm on the platform.
