Questions

Questions about who can buy

Can I buy a Bitcoin ETF from outside the US?

Often yes, but not always the same product. Canada and the UK have their own listed products. Australians can buy US-listed funds through a platform that supports US markets. Europe depends on the country and the venue. The table above shows what we could verify.

Can UK retail investors buy Bitcoin ETFs?

The FCA lifted its ban on retail access to crypto exchange-traded notes on 8 October 2025. Under the change, retail investors can buy ETNs through UK-listed trading venues, and the first products were on the London Stock Exchange.

Why do some countries limit access?

Regulators in some places decided crypto products carry risks that need extra caution for non-professional investors. In Italy, a report attributes the professional-only rule on Borsa Italiana to Consob. We did not find the regulator's own text, so check the regulator in your country.

What if my country is not listed?

Ask your broker which crypto ETPs or ETFs it offers to you, in writing, and check the product's KID or prospectus for the target investor. We have not verified your market.

Is a Bitcoin ETF safer than an exchange?

It is different risk, not no risk. You rely on the issuer and the custodian instead of an exchange, and you cannot withdraw the coins. Our Exchange Rigor Report covers the exchange side.
