  • 2018-12-23 Customer account hacked via stolen password and OTP; funds sold and bitcoin withdrawn. Outside the 5-year window; listed because a later court ruling (2019) concerned it. Outcome: Seoul court held Coinone partly liable and ordered 25 million won compensation (withdrawals above the 20 million won daily limit). source

Regulator and court actions

  • 2026-04-13 Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), South Korea: FIU decided a fine of 5.2 billion won and a three-month partial business suspension (from 2026-04-29) over AML failures: about 70,000 KYC/verification violations and about 10,000 transfers with 16 unregistered overseas VASPs; reprimand for the CEO. Outcome: Decision subject to a 10-day opinion period; Coinone said it was reviewing remedies and a possible administrative lawsuit. Final status not verified.
